Your Mission
Create a small paper theater that turns a rainy afternoon into a story everyone can see and help shape.
What You'll Need
- Clean empty shoe box
- Plain paper or recycled paper
- Child-safe tape
- Crayons or markers
How to Do the Quest
- 1
Ask an adult to check that the shoe box is clean and has no sharp staples, then place it open-side facing the storyteller.
- 2
Draw three simple characters and one background scene on paper, keeping the shapes large and easy to cut or tear.
- 3
Use child-safe tape to attach the background inside the box and make a small label for the beginning, middle, and ending.
- 4
Stand the paper characters in the box with folded paper bases or let a helper hold them along the bottom edge.
- 5
Tell the story in three short parts, moving only one character at a time so everyone can follow the action.
- 6
Invite the audience to suggest a new ending, then save the characters in the box for another rainy-day performance.
Quest Challenge
Can the story include a beginning, a problem, and a kind solution in three minutes?
Pro Tip
A tiny cast keeps the project playable; two characters are plenty for a first show.
