Your Mission
Build a flexible indoor scavenger hunt where choosing a comfortable clue level is part of the fun.
What You'll Need
- Paper cards or sticky notes
- Pencils or crayons
- A short list of safe rooms or shared spaces
How to Do the Quest
- 1
Choose a few familiar, adult-approved rooms and set a rule to leave private spaces, drawers, appliances, and fragile objects alone.
- 2
Make easy clues with pictures or colors, such as ‘find something round’; make optional challenge clues ask for a pattern, matching pair, or object with two uses.
- 3
Let each player choose which clue level to try, and make clear that changing levels is always allowed.
- 4
Search by looking only; participants can point, sketch, or describe a find instead of picking it up.
- 5
After each clue, invite players to add a clue of their own and choose whether it is easy, tricky, or both.
- 6
End when the group has solved a few clues they enjoyed, then return cards and supplies to their place.
Quest Challenge
Can your family write a clue that has two fair answers so different ages can solve it in their own way?
Pro Tip
A clue should invite noticing, not require children to climb, open containers, handle unknown items, or hurry.
