How to Do the Quest
- 1
Review campground rules, locate the nearest adult and restroom, and agree on a boundary that keeps everyone at the campsite or a marked public area.
- 2
Share the mission: learn a calm gear-check routine by sorting safe zipper and packing tasks with an adult.
- 3
Set up the materials before starting so nobody needs to search through gear in low light or bad weather.
- 4
Complete one focused round, staying together and pausing whenever conditions change or someone needs a break.
- 5
Put away supplies, check the campsite for litter, and tell an adult where the group will be next.
Make It Even More Fun
- ✦ Make the group version cooperative by giving each participant a different role or choice.
- ✦ Shorten the first round to ten minutes when energy, weather, or attention changes.
Level It Up
Add a simple before-and-after page to the printable guide, then repeat Camping Gear Zipper Repair Race on a different day and compare what changed.
Make It Easier
Choose only the first two steps, use a smaller boundary or shorter timer, and let participants watch, point, or narrate instead of completing every part.
Quest Challenge
Can the group finish Camping Gear Zipper Repair Race with one shared memory, one useful observation, and no need to buy anything extra?
Pro Tip
Set out the supplies and state the finish line before inviting anyone in. A clear ending keeps this activity feeling like an adventure instead of another open-ended project.
Safety First
Follow campground rules and local fire restrictions. Keep children with a responsible adult, use only established paths and lit areas after dark, avoid wildlife, and leave all fire, cooking, and tool tasks to responsible adults.
Why You'll Love This Quest
This Quest has a genuinely different premise from the catalog's existing hunts and seasonal activities. It gives teens a memorable reason to notice, make, or share something together while respecting real limits on time, budget, weather, and energy.
